Aeden: the protagonist, first known as Kirin before passing his coming-of-age trials and taking on the name Aeden. Of the Thane Sagan.

 

Adel: becomes one of Aeden’s best friends. Enjoys games. Secretly enjoys drawing/painting.

 

Annalist: a chronicler of history, tasked with finding the Kan Savasci (aka Aeden) in the present timeline.

 

Archduchess Alina Cynesige: archduchess in the 2nd House of Bodig, and Holder of Keys. Young, beautiful woman.

 

Ayleth the Widow: Aeden’s adopted mother, who raised him.

 

Blaise: bear-like monk, older, at Monastery in Bodig. Storyteller and moral guidepost.

 

Bryce: works together with Gavin, operating small boat, escaping Gemynd on Lake Stevol to Petra’s Landing. Tall, well-muscled.

 

Borin: Dannon’s father in S’Vothe.

 

Bosco: monk from Bodig Monastery. Causes trouble for Aeden. Tall, skinny, has habit of wiping nose on his robes.

 

Brom: carriage rider from Treton that gives monks a ride north to Gemynd. Big man, full, dark beard.

 

Dannon: Kirin/Aeden’s love interest in S’Vothe. Young, quick-witted, and independent. Of the Thane Sagan.

 

Devon: Kirin/Aeden’s best friend from S’Vothe, of the Thane Sagan.

Gavin: works together with Bryce, as shipman. Brokered deal with Lord Bristol’s men to leave Gemynd.

 

Hamal Badi Agir: Boatswain on the Seventh Sage. A decent fighter. Competed with Aeden.

 

Jal Isa Sha’ril: the purser of Sha’ril. A powerful man with carefully trimmed eyebrows, purchases monks as slaves.

 

Jerome: Bosco’s shorter, fatter, slow-witted friend. Monk from Monastery of Bodig.

 

Kirin: Aeden’s name before the coming-of-age trials/ceremony. Of the Thane Sagan.

 

Kovor: Kirin/Aeden’s father, and village leader/chieftain. Of the Thane Sagan.

 

Lord Bristol: one of the major lords in Gemynd of the strongest house. Father of Thea Bristol.

 

Monahan:  tithe counter for monastery in Bodig. Monk for Holy Order of Salvare, mole-like in appearance.

 

Master Cook: main cook within village of Thane Sagan.

 

Medicine Man: main healer and source of wisdom for the Thane Sagan.

 

Nawfel Murad Q’Bala: captain of the Seventh Sage.
